»Water Conservation Plan Development
GWI had the good fortune to work with the City of Brighton, the City of Longmont, the Pinery Water and Wastewater District and the Pagosa Area Water and Sanitation District in the past, along with our consultant teammates – CH2M HILL, Harris Water Consultants, CirTerra and Environmental Dimensions. GWI was responsible for developing most, if not all, of the Water Conservation Plans for these entities, and Brighton’s, Pagosa Area Water and Sanitation District’s and Longmont’s plans have been reviewed and approved by the State. Here is a sample of the comments received from the State regarding our work: “The City of Brighton Final Water Conservation Plan prepared by GWI is an excellent example of what a conservation plan should be. The plan is clear, thorough and complete and is not overly burdened with extraneous information…. Overall, the Brighton plan is a thorough and well thought out document that could be used as a model for other agencies developing water conservation plans.” GWI also provided valuable support, pro bono, to the Grandview Estates Rural Water Conservancy District during their negotiations of a quitclaim to water rights beneath unincorporated Douglas County land. GWI helped develop language that satisfied both the District and the County regarding future water conservation planning efforts to be employed by the District prior to the water being put to use. GWI assisted various organizations during their efforts to develop local water conservation plans. We provided model assessment support to Colorado Springs Utilities, commercial water use characterization support to Eagle River Water and Sanitation District, water conservation plan grant support to the Town of Superior and water conservation planning support to Cherokee Metropolitan District. We are currently working with the City of Durango to help them develop a water conservation planning grant. Examples of the approved water conservation plans that we help water providers prepare are provided below. |
